PENNERTON WEST b NY CITY 1913-d NY 1965
Pennerton West was a direct descendant of the famous American historical painter Benjamin West (1738-1820). She studied at the Art Student's League, Cooper Union, and with Hans Hoffman, William Hayter and Ibram Lassaw.
She was a member of Stanley Hayter's avant-garde Atelier 17. She made beautiful prints which are in numerous museum collections. I consider Hayter one of the catalysts in the forming of the New York School.
